Hello friends,
It is once again time for missions! This time, I will be going to the land of the rising sun, JAPAN, in hopes of sharing the gospel to a nation where their predominant religion isn't Christianity but Shinto. Japan is a nation where less than 2% of their population are Christian. However, similarly to Australia where Christianity is more of a cultural phenomenon, Shinto is the same in Japan. Moreso than a religion, Shinto is viewed as a beautiful set of traditions or beliefs that teach how to appreciate and live in harmony with nature.
Even with their small population, Japan still boasts one of the highest amount of suicide cases in the world as a country. In addition, with their high-pressure work culture, loneliness epidemic and rising rates of anxiety or depression, Japan is a nation which is in need of the good news that is the gospel.
Whilst it is not our place to change people's hearts, God still calls us to spread the gospel. As we continue to grow in our relationship with God, and continue to see the mercy and grace that he has shown us, we should share this with others so that we can all have hope for the future.
This year I've been given great opportunities to grow in confidence in public speaking, a continual growth in leadership and developing a heart of being welcoming. While I've grown in these areas, I have also had doubts on my own relationship with Jesus and if our existence and work truly mattered. As Paul wrestles with this (Phillipians 2:21-26), he concludes that by continuing in his labour, he can continue seeing progress and joy in the faith that the people have in Christ Jesus.
As I prepare for missions, I would be extremely grateful for any support that you can provide - both financially and in prayer🙇.
Yours in Christ,
Enoch
